About Us

Excellent and Compassionate Care in Your Community

Since 1951, PRMC has provided excellent, compassionate healthcare to South Central Kansas residents. That tradition of caring continues to this day, with PRMC’s up-to-date facility and equipment, and most importantly, dedicated, superb medical and other staff.

The land and buildings that make up the PRMC campus are owned by the Pratt County Hospital Board of Trustees. Members of the Pratt County Hospital Board are appointed by the Pratt County Commissioners. Most of the work done inside the buildings on the PRMC Campus and in PRMC Internal Medicine is managed by Pratt Regional Medical Center, Inc., which has its own Board of Directors and Executive Staff. PRMC, Inc., is a nonprofit (501(c)3) organization.

PRMC is designated as the Sole Community Provider by the federal government and is a progressive medical center licensed by the Kansas Department of Health and Environment.  PRMC is Medicare-certified and accredited by DNV.

No one seeking care at PRMC is denied services, regardless of their ability to pay.

PRMC is proud of our affiliation with Edwards County Medical Center in Kinsley, where many outreach services are provided, in addition to clinics located in Dodge City, Liberal, and Meade

Our Governance

Two boards of area residents ensure accountability to the community.

The five-member Pratt County Board of Trustees is appointed by the Pratt County Commissioners. Because Pratt County owns the buildings, the County Hospital Board is responsible for:

  • Maintenance of the group.
  • Repair/replacement of major fixed mechanical systems.
  • Maintenance of the exterior of the buildings on the PRMC campus.
  • Lease of the buildings to the PRMC, Inc., Board of Directors.

An annual levy of 1.128 mills pays for the maintenance of the exterior of the buildings, fixed mechanical systems, and grounds.

Pratt Regional Medical Center, Inc., manages the medical center with an eleven-member Board of Directors, executive staff, and administrative staff. It is responsible for:

  • All operating expenses such as payroll, supplies, and medical equipment.
  • Routine maintenance, operational wear and tear, and the insurance coverage on the building and grounds.
  • Payment of the $10,255,000 hospital revenue bonds for the Pratt Regional Medical Complex.

Revenue from patients’ charges and charitable contributions pays for these expenses, and no tax money is used. Revenues in excess of expenses pay to:

  • Update medical equipment.
  • Add buildings.
  • Increase services.
  • Maintain reserves.
